The Brief: When Ade Gascoyne asked me to re-design his website his main requirement was that the new site would appeal to the high-end clients he was starting to attract. As a maker of top specification Kitchens and furniture he knew that his original 'cheap and cheerful' site didn't match the level of quality that his clients would expect from his workmanship so my mission was to make a site that was more in inline with his level of skill.
The Solution: I felt that Ade's core product offering was pretty straightforward and that a straightforward website would serve the purpose best so I proposed a concise one page website with an emphasis on elegant design. Using overlaid modal windows for any extended text, the user never needs to leave the homepage and can access all the relevant information with very little navigation.
For the design itself I drew inspiration from natural forms such as leaves and roots as reference to the natural materials used by Ade in his craft and used elegant swirls and curved contours to give it a touch of class.
